CONSERVATION DATABASE SPECIALIST
Based in Bali
The Conservation Database Specialist will be part of a team at The Nature Conservancy Indonesia Marine Program supporting the development of a Marine Protected Area Management Effectiveness System (MPAMES) for all marine program project sites. The system consists of two main components: (1) a protocol for collecting information for measuring conservation effectiveness, and (2) a database to strategically collate and store information collected from sites.
Both are developed to support decision making processes to support to increase management performance of MPAS and/or networks of MPAs. In respect to the database, its development will consist of three phases, namely: (1) collection and consolidation of all necessary data from project sites; (2) standardizing and documenting data; and (3) development of a user friendly application for representing and querying the dataset.
The candidate should possess a good knowledge of and/or experience in database development and management, strong academic training and Sl/bachelor degree in management information systems or related field/s. At least two pears experience in using and developing databases and strong fluency in computer packages, e.g., NIS Excel, MS Access. However, fresh graduates with practical experience and/or thesis specifically on database development, programming and management will be considered. Experience with database development and programming using software such as MS Access, and/or preferably SQL, Server 2005, PostGre SQL, or oracle Database product, is a plus.
