Senior Geophysicist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly capable geophysicist to work in the Exploration Team in Santos’ Jakarta office.
As the senior geophysicist in Santos Indonesia you will have responsibility for technical leadership of all geophysical work undertaken in the Jakarta office. A key focus of this role is evaluation of New Ventures opportunities in support of Santos’ growth in Asia goal. You will coordinate multidiscipline data room evaluations to quantify resource and risk assessments of New Ventures opportunities. You will also conduct regional studies to identify areas of potential interest within Indonesia.
You will be responsible for geophysical interpretation and play and prospect evaluations within Santos’ existing acreage, and will coordinate any seismic acquisition or (re)processing projects within Indonesia.
Naturally you will be a self-starter, and have sufficient depth and breadth of experience to be able to provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:
- University degree in Geoscience
- At least 10 years relevant experience with an operating company.
- Excellent geophysics core technical skills (2D/3D seismic interpretation, well tie analysis, depth conversion, attribute analysis, play and prospect evaluation, etc).
- Experienced user of industry standard geophysical interpretation software (eg Paradigm).
- Extensive experience of New Ventures evaluations.
- Excellent communications skills (fluent spoken and written English).
- Team player with ability to mentor junior staff.
